Peak Ridge AgTech Fund, a venture capital fund of Peak Ridge Group, has appointed former Wisconsin governor Tommy Thompson to its advisory board.
Thompson, who has also served as secretary of health and human services under President George W Bush, is making the move to the venture capital fund that specialises in agricultural efficiency.
"I'm very excited to be working with such a well-regarded firm as Peak Ridge," Mr Thompson said, adding that he is particularly happy that the fund has global reach and is based in the Mid-West.
Mr Thompson claimed that there is no venture capital fund better placed to be successful in agricultural investment and clean technologies, as well as chemicals and biofuel improvements.
According to Private Equity Wire, the fund recently made its first investment - in Wisconsin based company Rapid Diagnostek.
The company is developing a handheld device designed to test for illness or disease in one minute.
